Biography
About Sea Is Medicine
Sea is Medicine, also known as Naomi Olson, is a multidisciplinary artist whose work blends Bitcoin, resilience, and visual storytelling. After a near-death experience and emergency surgery that led to an ileostomy, she rebuilt her life through intentional healing, daily connection with the ocean, and a return to creative practice. This transformation became the foundation of her artistic identity.
Her discovery of Bitcoin added a new philosophical layer to her work, aligning with themes of sovereignty, truth, and self ownership. She began integrating these ideas into collage and mixed media pieces that reflect both personal rebirth and broader cultural change. Her art often draws from surf culture, nature, and the symbolism of waves as cycles of destruction and renewal.
Naomi’s work has been exhibited at the Bitcoin Art Museum and featured at the Bitcoin Conference gallery multiple times. She is also the founder of BTC Aloha, a beachwear and lifestyle brand that merges tropical aesthetics with Bitcoin culture. With a background in photography and exhibitions at institutions such as the Honolulu Museum of Art, her creative practice spans fine art, fashion, and community building.
Her work reflects a lived philosophy that beauty, freedom, and value are created through perseverance, and that art can act as a record of transformation and return.
