About Tommy

Tommy Marcheschi is a multidisciplinary Bitcoin artist, collector, and curator based in Nashville, Tennessee. Working across oil, acrylic, aerosol, and mixed media, his practice combines fine art traditions with the visual language of political propaganda, graphic design, and Bitcoin culture.

Originally from Glen Ellyn, Illinois, Tommy earned a BFA in Graphic Design from the University of South Carolina before joining BTC Media in the early years of Bitcoin’s cultural emergence. After discovering Bitcoin in 2016 and 2017, he became BTC Media’s artist in residence and developed a body of work centered on sovereignty, censorship resistance, and the aesthetics of decentralized systems.

Tommy describes his work as “pre-emptive propaganda,” using imagery inspired by European wartime posters to satirize state overreach and expose the mechanics of institutional control before they become normalized. His breakout piece, Bitcoin War Bonds, debuted at Bitcoin 2022 and later became one of the early large scale Ordinals inscriptions, permanently embedded into Bitcoin block 777945.

Beyond his studio practice, Tommy has played a major role in building Bitcoin’s cultural infrastructure. Inspired by Scarce City’s Bitcoin art auctions, he co-founded Satoshi House Auctions alongside developer Erik Jacobi, creating a Bitcoin native platform for fine art and artifacts. He also co-founded BMAG, the Bitcoin Museum & Art Gallery in Nashville, alongside David Bailey, Dennis Koch, and Erik Jacobi, helping establish a permanent institution dedicated to preserving Bitcoin’s artistic and historical legacy.
