About Yonat Vaks
Yonat Vaks is a multidisciplinary artist, based in Spain, whose work is a search for the essence of what makes us human. Through different mediums she questions the values we choose in creating our future. Yonat was born in Israel, in a kibbutz, a social experiment in communist living ideals. She was raised in a children's house and saw her parents only a few hours each day. This had a profound impact on the way her worldview was constructed, and would later lead her to a journey of deconstructing it.
Her work has been exhibited internationally at events including The Bitcoin Conference, Plan B Lugano, Scarce City, CADAF, and exhibitions across Europe, the United States, and the Middle East. Alongside her studio practice, she is also a public speaker and educator whose talks explore creativity, altered states of consciousness, leadership, and the future of art in decentralized societies.
Through her work, Yonat Vaks creates spaces for reflection, introspection, and expanded perspectives on freedom, creativity, and human potential.
In her early twenties, an unexpected turn of events led her to discover a transformative practice of inner work through breathing techniques. These experiences became the foundation of her artistic practice, which is a constant inner and outer investigation into how our beliefs and ideas shape who we are, how we see the world, and how we might change it.
Across nearly a decade and ten series, she has been building the artifact set of Bitcoin culture: its ledgers, its musical instruments, its scripture, its hero's voyage, its ceremonial vestments, its painted heroes, its bar jokes. Money has never been only money. It is one of humanity's most projected onto inventions. For some it's an asset, for others a religion, a tool of control, a promise of freedom. Each piece in this body of work explores these ideas.
Her work has been shown in major Bitcoin exhibitions and conferences around the world, including The Bitcoin Conference in Nashville, Miami, Abu Dhabi, and Las Vegas, as well as Bit Block Boom in Dallas and Plan B in Lugano, among others. She is featured in Smashtoshi's one of a kind History of Bitcoin book, and in publications such as Citadel2, Bitcoin Magazine, Bitcoin Art Magazine and 21ism. Her work is held in the permanent collection of the Bitcoin Art Museum in Nashville, as well as private collections worldwide.
Yonat hosts The Movement of Art podcast, in collaboration with Bitcoin Art Magazine, taking deep dives into the meaning and ideas of Bitcoin art with fellow artists. Her TEDx talk on the future of art in the eye of technology has led to speaking engagements at Mobile World Congress, 4YFN, and others.
